Merry Christmas Sacred Circlers!
While this Thursday we did not meet for sacred circle, many of us found ourselves in other circles just as sacred. For me, it was around a table with other students and loved ones. We laughed and listened, shared ideas and hugs.
It got me thinking about all the communities we are a part of. Surely we have the family of our birth, but what of the other families we have created?
So today, when we celebrate the rebirth of the Christ in each of us, I give thanks for all my Sacred Circles. Friends, co-workers, classmates, fellow travelers on the journey.
Everything good,
Rachel

Christmas Sacred Circle
Seasons Greetings,
Today we had a holiday themed Sacred Circle. All our music was Christmas, and our wiggle song was Sha-Ring by Brenda Kutz White. It's from the Christmas in the Northwest series which is dear to my heart http://www.cnwparty.com/home.cfm. Our closing song was also from the album, All I want for Christmas (is peace on earth) by Tim Noah.
The quote was:
A gift is a symbol of what we desire for our friends. It would be in conformity with the Christ Spirit to use your time sending out the joyful thoughts that come spontaneously from the Christ Love. ~Myrtle Fillmore
Affirmation:
My gift is the Christ Love.
Thank you all for being a gift to us in this adventure of life.
From the depths of my heart I wish you all the best,
Rachel

December 11th Sacred Circle
"IN MY QUEST FOR TRUTH I PRESS ON PAST MY HUMANITY TO A DEEPENING AWARENESS AND AN INCREASING RELEASEMENT OF MY POTENTIAL DIVINITY" - Rev. Eric Butterworth
Today’s Sacred Circle was facilitated by Ogun (yours truly) with DJ Ned on the rims of steel(um…ok, the ipod). Our affirmation is: I DEEPEN MY AWARENESS OF MY DIVINITY.
Today’s playlist: “Rainbow” by G.Love, “A Llil” by DJ Alok, and “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas” by Harry Connick, Jr. (bringin’ the Xmas cheer) We also jammed to Parliament’s “Give Up The Funk” and Lenny Kravitz’s “Love Revolution” while we set up and packed up.
Besides discussing if “releasement” is indeed a real word, tell us what you do to deepen your awareness. Meditation? Prayer? Nature walks? Journaling?

Thanksgiving break
Since Thursday this week is Thanksgiving, we won't be having Sacred Circle. But, that doesn't mean that we can't have a quote! I chose a quote from a while back (from the dark ages when we didn't have a blog!)
Praise is Gratitude in Action. ~Myrtle Fillmore
I invite you this week to practice gratitude and appreciation for everything in your life.
I am thankful for you!

Nov 20th Sacred Circle
"Form the habit of seeing the Christ in everyone." --Myrtle Fillmore
Affirmation: The Christ in me sees the Christ in you.
Our songs today were Suddenly I See by KT Tunstall and We Are One by Heather Frahn (who has a unity.fm profile here.)
For me, it's not just about seeing the Christ in all people, but also seeing the Christ in all situations. Even the painful ones (especially the painful ones) because that's where it feels like real work is happening!
What about you?

Nov 13th Sacred Circle
"The way to overcoming is through allying ourselves with God ... We should learn to give only good." --Elizabeth Sand Turner
Affirmation: I choose to give good.
Our rock-out song today was Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing by the fabulous Stevie Wonder.
What are you overcoming right now? What does it mean to "give good?"

Rockin' on November 6th
Hey folks,
This week we had special guests! There were folks who were in town for the Lyceum and others to finish up their credentials to be Licenced Teachers! Maybe a future Sacred Circle Syndicate was in the crowd!
Our song was "Yes I will" by Michael Franti, and the quote
"We set to work to change any and everything which we may find that does not measure up to the best that our new light shows us" Myrtle Fillmore
What do you think about that? How does this show up in your life?
Happy weekend

"Halloween" Sacred Circle--Oct 30th
Okay, so it's not officially Halloween yet, but Unity is observing it today and we rocked out to "Monster Mash" at our Sacred Circle. And it was great to have so many SEE students join us today!
Our quote is: "Most fears take to their heels if we do something about them." --May Rowland
Affirmation: I am brave!
So...what do you do with your fears?

Quote for Oct 23rd
Hey all,
Today's quote is from Myrtle Fillmore:
"Let consciousness lay hold of its boundless supply of life, love, wisdom ... now. It is your birthright ..."
The songs we jammed out to were "Love Train" by the O'Jays and "All We Need is Love" by Ras Attitude.
The affirmation: "I claim the good in my life!"
The good that I've been claiming for myself this week is confidence, courage and persistence through all the many changes going on at work and in the world at large. What have you been claiming?

Quote from October 16th
Hey everyone,
I know we're a little late posting the quote and song from the 16th, but Jenny and I have had a busy week! We were both at the South Central Next Generation of Unity (NGU) retreat this weekend, along with it being our BIRTHDAY! (the 18th)
The 16th's quote is "Zeal is the inward fire of the soul that urges one onward" Charles Fillmore
Our song was "Celebrate" by Rare Earth
There was an extra sacred circle on Thursday at 12:45 so our friends visiting for SEE could come. (this will happen this week and next as well)
We also had a sacred circle at the NGU retreat which was also lots of fun!
Peace to you all
Rachel

Howdy,
This week our quote comes from Eric Butterworth, (but we reconize the universal wisdom of it)
"The one real certainty in life is change"
our affirmation is: I embrace change.
our song this week was 'Get ready for the brand new sky' by LeRoy White
What do you all think of that?

October 2nd
Hey everyone,
We had a great sacred circle today, the weather is beautiful, and the sun is shining. (but we know that it's always a beautiful day in our conciousness right?)
Today's quote is from Charles Fillmore's 'Prosperity'
"Never allow yourself to be burdened with the thought that you are having a hard time."
Our song was 'Look who's dancing' Ziggy Marley
What do YOU think about today's quote? Go ahead and talk amongst yourselves :-)

What's sacred about a circle?
You might be wondering why this alternative prayer service at Unity is called Sacred Circle...
The symbol of the circle represents wholeness. Perfection. Inclusivity. Because we are all participants and contributers in life and in our spiritual practice, right?
So why do so many religious services out there have a seating format where it's an audience facing a stage? Like you're in a classroom and the teacher is at the front? Doesn't that seem a little hierarchical? I mean, sure, it works great if you're going to a lecture... but what about if you want to have a spiritual experience in a group environment? Maybe you just want to get centered then let your your wholeness ripple outward into the world.
More examples of "sacred circles" in the world ...
Tibetan Buddhist mandala
Native American medicine wheel
Zen enso circle of infinity
Planet Earth
Sacred pizza... hmmm!
